UX design, UI design
In April, 2020, Digitas decided to launch a "Connected Hackathon" aimed at coming up with projects to help clients or regular people – or both – adapt to the new, continuously changing world.
It was an open brief. What can we create to serve this new way of living and working in Pandemic?
The Well app was ranked as one of the top 5 ideas agency wide.
It was an extremely lean team where I worked closely with a UX lead and an account manager to deliver the idea in a video format. I had the opportunity to use my creativity and imagination to design a product for the new way of living we're all trying to adapt to.

Time frame: April, 2020 - May, 2020

Well is a mental health check-in app that brings you a new way to connect with your friends and family. It predicts your mood through your smart devices you already use and allows you to plan fun virtual activities with your friends and family. We might not be able to be together, but together we can be well. The goal of the app is to build a community and allow us to connect to others the way you never did before.
According to the research, 61% of adults of Americans report feeling lonely and 17.3 million adults have had a major depressive moment in the last 12 months.
We want to design a product that address the following user needs:
Easy and friendly on board experience that allows the user to log in/sign up with a phone number. The user has the option to select the apps they want to connect through this app, which gives the app the permission to gather data from those Apps. We also make it easy for the user to add friends and family during the onboard.
It predicts a user’s mood from the social media channels and smart devices that a user connected. The more devices or apps a user connects to, the more accurate the result is. For example, your mood could be impacted by your activity level or even the music you’re listening to, so connecting to Apple Watch or Spotify helps our algorithm for prediction.
On the discover page, a user can explore trending activities to try out with a friend. The app also uses algorithms to provide personal suggestions based on the user's past activities and current status. The app also gives a user suggestion on which friend to invite based on mutual interests or if that friend needs a little love.
We want to create a platform for users to find a community that shares their interests and passions. In the Community page, a user will find virtual events, discussion forums, and news based on their interest. A user can easily listen in and participate in discussions with a few clicks. The goal of this page is to provide a sense of community and help users to meet new friends.
I would conduct more user research, such as in-depth interviews or online surveys to gather more data on ways people want to get connected. I would also test the idea of connecting multiple social media apps to see where the comfortable level is at. People may feel reluctant to provide personal data to a new app. I would also work on a few edge cases where the user is not connected to any of the social media platforms and what the experience is like for that type of user. I would also work on a few more flows to illustrate how a user initiates and completes an activity with a friend. That might also effect the items in the app navigation.
Overall, It was a very fast paced project that the idea got delivered in 2 weeks. Very proud to be featured as one of the Top 5 ideas from Digitas on Campaign US.
