iTALKBB TV Brand Video

Project Overview

iTalkBB TV is a Chinese streaming website that streams the most popular TV shows, movies, and live channels from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The brand wants to develop a short video to promote its new app for mobile and tablet. The video is going to be displayed in the App Store, Google Play, Instagram Ads, YouTube Ads, and more.

My Role

I worked closely with the marketing manager and a Creative Director from ITalkBB to produce this video. I was the only visual and motion designer on the team. The brand did not have a solid brand visual identity and I saw the opportunity to develop a visual identity for the brand. I produced both short-form and long-form videos for the brand to cast at different platforms.

Phase 1

Define look & feel

The initial step is to define a visual style for the brand. First, I had to define design drivers - a few keywords that define a brand in terms of the value and feelings that a brand wishes to bring to its customers. I worked with the marketing manager to define the design drivers, and then I created 3 mood boards with distinct look and feel to explore all different visual opportunities.

Beyond flat graphic style, we also looked at a few motion examples for inspirations and aligned on the style of motion we’re going for.

Phase 2

Storyborad and High Fidelity Style Frames

Once the visual direction is aligned, the second milestone is to create storyboards for the video. I need a very detailed script of what the brand wants to communicate with the video. What are the key selling points of the product and what is the differentiator?

It was a very challenging phase because the team did not have a clear strategy in brand positioning and key product differentiator. Through rounds of meetings, we aligned on the core features to highlight in the video.

Make it move!
